Director dealings: Cowgill adds to Quiz stake after golden goodbye from JD
(Sharecast News) - Former JD Sports Fashion boss Peter Cowgill was already spending his golden goodbye on Thursday, buying almost £50k worth of shares in fashion retailer Quiz. Cowgill, who stepped down from the trendy trainer merchant in May, was handed a package worth £5.5m over three years this week to prevent him from setting up a competitor, as well as a year's salary of over £0.9m and a possible bonus of £0.45m.
His departure from JD Sports came months after the regulator fined the firm £4m over secretive meetings - including one in a carpark - between Cowgill and the boss of JD's takeover target Footasylum amid an arms-length order.
On Thursday Quiz said Cowgill - its non-executive chairman - had bought 410,000 of its shares on Wednesday on the London Stock Exchange.
He paid 12p for each share, spending a total of £49,200.00.
Following the purchase, Quiz said Cowgill's interest in the company was 503,168 shares, representing 0.4% of its issued capital.
At the same time, it also disclosed that non-executive director Roger Mather bought 310,282 shares for 11.28p each on 20 September, valuing that transaction at £34,999.81.
After that, Mather's interest in the firm was 322,884 shares, or 0.26% of its issued capital.
At 1405 BST, shares in Quiz were up 4.7% at 12.8p.
